Karen entered the profession as a mixed practitioner but found her main passion with horses (particularly foal medicine) and also small animal medicine and surgery.
Karen spent two years in the UK from 2000, pursuing her equine interests, and also lecturing to veterinary nursing undergrads. She was involved in the 2001 Foot and Mouth outbreak, and worked as a TVI in the mid west of England.
Karen leads the companion animal team based in Whakatane, and her spare time enjoys hunting and riding in general with husband Martin and motor bike trail riding with her two boys.
